Saddle Up: It’s Going to Be an Exciting Ride

February 16, 2012By Tim McKinnon Comments

As I ease into my role as the new CTO at Ektron, I find myself more and more excited about the opportunity our company has in its grasp. Customer experience is a huge priority for executives and marketing teams across vertical industries, and across the globe. The strategy Ektron has put in place, and the products we’ve developed, have put us in a perfect position to help customers accomplish their goals using a content-based strategy.

Ektron is a perfect fit for me. Most recently I worked as the CTO of Endeca’s eBusiness division, which was recently acquired by Oracle. As I told Barb Mosher in a great CMSwire piece about the appointment, I felt I had accomplished what I wanted to at Oracle/Endeca, and Ektron presented the kind of challenge and opportunity I was looking for. Ektron is small enough to be nimble and innovative, but we’re big enough, with the financial resources, customer base and world-class products, to move quickly and be innovative in the CXM market. At Ektron we’re in a great position to help our customers and partners tackle the huge challenge and opportunity that CXM represents.

Before Endeca, I worked at Microsoft, joining via their FAST Search acquisition. My role there was  in the Digital Marketing Platform Group where I got to work with their search, advertising and collaboration technologies and help drive their digital marketing platform strategy. My ten years at FAST Search and time at Endeca and Microsoft  gave me some keen insight into the enterprise search space. That insight will serve me well in my role here at Ektron, especially as we further explore the role of Big Data in CXM.  As we discussed in the CMSwire interview, enterprise search has been evolving beyond traditional search boxes to really encompass “Big Data” and how it extends both automation and optimization capabilities that improvecustomer experience.  Combine that with the capabilities inherent in WCM, especially those cutting-edge solutions offered by Ektron, and we have some really exciting things ahead.

I’m thrilled to be here, and I’m looking forward to engaging with all of you in the Ektron community.
