The Milwaukee County Transit System serves the greater Milwaukee area, and provides more than 150,000 passenger trips daily—providing mobility and freedom for all types of people. MCTS is run by a private, not for profit management company under contract to Milwaukee County.

Challenge:
Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) wanted its heavily-used site to be more responsive to seasonal promotions and to daily route changes caused by a major freeway interchange reconstruction project.

Solution:
Versant used Ektron’s content management platform to build a more dynamic site that meets MCTS’ dynamic needs. With a virtual flip of the switch, menus and content can be updated to reflect MCTS’ current fare promotion. The platform allows for cleaner, more user-friendly formats that provide a greater amount of information. Versant’s implementation of Real Simple Syndication (RSS) technology allows MCTS riders to subscribe to live content feeds including news and detour information.

Results:
For many bus riders, the MCTS site is the sole source of transportation information. The new site is a more valuable, useful tool, and supports MCTS in its goal to build and maintain closer relationships with its ridership.
