Rivier College needed to integrate a more streamlined solution for content management with a permissions based flow process—at a price point that fit the school's budget. Ektron's CMS was their solution of choice.

Founded in 1933 by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Rivier College is a Catholic coeducational liberal arts college offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. Located in Nashua, New Hampshire, it emphasizes academic excellence, pre-professional, and professional preparation.

Challenge
Maintaining Web site content at Rivier College was less than ideal. According to the Webmaster, Dan DiCecca, "We were using Dreamweaver to update the Web site. However, many people wouldn't have Dreamweaver setup properly, so the check-in/check-out functions weren’t working right. On top of that, Dreamweaver wasn’t originally made to be used in a mapped path network environment. That caused a lot of problems and headaches."
DiCecca wanted to integrate a more streamlined solution for content management with a permissions based flow process—at a price point that fit the school's budget.

DiCecca evaluated several content management solutions before deciding on Ektron's CMS. "I evaluated several products, and most were very expensive," says DiCecca. "In fact, they did everything that Ektron’s product does—at 5 times the price or more. In my opinion, I don’t think there is a comparison. Ektron’s product is just as robust as any other product out there for a fraction of the cost. To me, it was a no-brainer."

Result |
Training the end users was easy, and DiCecca took advantage of the "how to" Flash viewlets on Ektron's Web site. "I’ve integrated links to Ektron's viewlets in the login page on our Web site," says DiCecca.
With Ektron's CMS in place, many departments at Rivier College are now editing their own content and submitting it for approval. Says DiCecca, "As the Webmaster, Ektron's CMS saved me from the hassle and administration. Now, I just sit back and watch the content come in."
"Right now we have 20 users. On a given day, we may use it for 2-3 hours. Then there are those days where we are revamping something and we use it all day or all week," says DiCecca. "It’s a life saver."
